Hello
Everybody!!!
Today
I wanted to share with you one of the most important things in my life, my
Passion for Fashion.
My
mom has always been a very stylish person, and she would always dress us really
fashionable, and a little bit different to what other girls wore, so I guess
that’s when my passion for fashion started. Then when I was 2nd grade my
teacher was getting married and I was so excited that I designed her a
Cinderella-like dress…that’s when it all started. I would draw all the time and
little by little I improved my sketches as well as the ideas I showed in them.
I
try, through my clothes, to give the women today diversity, offering them
different lengths and fits in the clothes. Still, I do not allow myself to
offer them a low waist cut, as I strongly believe that makes the figure of the
women to be lost, it vanishes the hourglass proportion the women is known to
have. I either try to enhance it with high waist cuts or sometimes, an A shape
cut when the women desire to feel elegant and still comfortable. I try to reach
all of this whilst never losing sight of what I wish my clothes to show,
sexiness and sophistication through bold cut outs, that I think, reveal just
the right amount of skin for a woman to look classy, not trashy. I do this
because of my idols Audrey Hepburn and Emma Watson. These beautiful women are
known for their sophistication and class, which is what I believe my clothes
show. Also, in this collection particularly, my first collection, I pay
tribute to one of my biggest fashion influences, Coco Chanel, by adding in
every piece of my collection chains (which in the drawings are represented by
gold lines). Those chains represent the little chains she used in the inside of
the Little Black Jacket so the jacket always held its posture.
The colors that the garments from my collection hold are what I call sweet vibrant colors. When I see the colors in my garments I immediately think in flowers and concerts, two things that I love. In a concert you can feel a beautiful and energetic vbe going around the room, you get hipnotized by the lights, the colors flashing everywhere and the songs being played; you get the feeling that you are on the top of the world. The flowers are just something classy, yet colorful that bring happiness to people and are never out of fashion. This is what I want to provoke in the women that use my designs. I want to bring them happiness, energy, a strong sense of confidence and yet provide them a classy, sweet and refined option to wear. (The colors in the drawings at the end of the post are not the exact colors I wanted, the ones I wanted are the ones shown in the image below!)

I am very happy with the outcome of this collection, as I think will get the eye of literally every-body, there is something for everyone, from skinny to chubby girls, they ALL deserve to feel beautiful, classy and confident…they just need the right outfit!
This collection is called "DARE", I chose this name because this is the first time I actually stepped out of my comfort zone to fight blindly for my passion for Fashion Design. This is the first time I "DARE" to show the world what I can do, allowing them to either praise or criticize my work, and allowing me to learn from every experience revolved around Fashion. I dared to fight for my dream.
My brand is called "MINA", pronounced Meena, in honor of my mom. She is the person that showed me what fashion is, and taught me that I should always be well dressed, although I don't always listen to her, and that I shouldn't care what other people think of the way I am dressed, if I like something I should wear it with the head held high. I owe her and my family everything I am. They always believe in me and they believe that I am able to achieve anything I want if I work and fight for it, and this is what I am doing. I will not let them down.
This is the logo! I absolutely love it♥ My mommy does to!
And here are the pictures of "DARE" by Maria Garza. It took lots of effort, thinking and stress, but I am very happy with it. I really hope you will like it!
